About This Course

The basic role of this course within the e-learning Management and Organization course can be summarized as to provide possibility for future information systems specialists to get acquainted with the organizational and management context surrounding the planning and implementation of information systems projects and activities. The students will get a short overview of the major stages of historical development of the subject area, and the specific approaches used in different phases. Emphasis is devoted to provide introduction to possible alternative solutions relying on up-to-date approaches to management and organizational issues to create and redesign structures, processes, and the advantages and disadvantages of specific alternatives selected.

Organization design issues will be embedded into the broader external and internal environmental conditions of companies or other types of organizations. Concerning environment we deal with market, technological, economic and cultural conditions, and systems enabling managerial tasks such as participative, democratic, or autocratic management styles.

Specific section will be devoted to the structure and processes of strategic and short term operative plans. A cutial question of management is decision making, where the course provides knowledge on conditions of application of different methods. Further relevant topics will be motvation, communication and control. In the process of developing teaching materials for the course, priority will be given to practice-oriented approaches illustrative examples will be provided for the students.
