About This Course

The title of this course is Visual Programming Languages. The course is intended not just for those who are good at programming but want to see programming languages in a different way, but for those, too, and especially for them, who fell behind in their programming studies. It will also be useful for youngsters wanting to learn programming. The course is suitable for individual learning, too, as it contains a lot of tasks, keys to the tasks and video explanations for them. Before we start up, I’m going to show you a game called COLOBOT, in which robots and constructor bots are controlled by object oriented programmes to defeat giant ants and many other strange bugs. The main concept of playing this game is to learn how to use elements the programming languages in a fun way. In the major part of this course we are going to deal with a visual programming language and the Integrated Development Environment is going to be MS Robotic studio, which is a very interesting tool because it contains lots of 3D simulations. Of course we are not using this language for its 3D simulations, but for utilizing its visual elements. In order for you to give a more clear picture about the real visual programming languages, we are going to use the C# language of Visual Studio.NET in the following parts of this course. After getting to know some visual elements of this language, too, we are going to develop a simple application, later to be translated to a mobile phone. Then, with the help of Visual Robotic Studio, you will learn the basic programming constructions like Sequence, Selection, Iteration and the use of variables representing data. Moreover, you will also learn to use Visual Studio and C# language and to write a simple program for a mobile phone.
