About This Course

Safety and Security in Informatics covers all the processes and mechanisms by which computers, computer networks, and the data stored and transmitted over them are protected against unintended or unauthorized access, change or destruction. The aim of this course is to help you understand:

  1. What kind of dangers do you face while using computer systems?
  2. What are the sources of these dangers?
  3. What steps can you take to keep your data safe and to secure the operation of your computer programs?

Accordingly, the main topics covered by this online course include:

  1. Radio-frequency identification and its security problems.
  2. The role and types of firewalls.
  3. Security issues of network use.
  4. The role of passwords and the importance of their complexity.
  5. Detection of malicious computer programs.
  6. The role and types of encryption.
  7. The importance of keeping your system up-to-date.
